Time moved forward and in end of summer 2013 I bought my girlfrien new laptop. The question was, what to do with old one? Since Raspberry Pi was very limited, I decided to move Web Server from it to old laptop. In comparision it was huge upgrade and since it was laptop I still got low power consumption, which is great for small Web Server, when you need to find something between low cost and enough power. And since it was a laptop, its battery was working as UPS, but only for laptop, so if I get power cut off internet still would not work.
- HP-Compaq 610
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5870 (2.00 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)
- 3GB DDR2 SODIMM (1GB+2GB) 800Mhz
- Mobile Intel GLE960 Express Chipset with ICH8M
- HDD 250GB 5400rpm
- 10/100 Ethernet
- OS - Ubuntu 13.04
I used this laptop as server for about 3 months for, I think, 8 websites with total of about 500 daily visitors. Avarage load was about 1. It was huge upgrade from RPi, and much more than I needed. I still kept in my apartment, since I have optic fibre 200Mbps ethernet and it is much cheaper to keep it here than store it in data center.
